Damascus, Syria has strongly condemned the brutal and criminal Israeli bombardment of defenseless civilians in Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus, and called for immediate measures to deter 'Israel'. The Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the recent attack on Mezzeh is a new violation of international law and evidence of Israel's persistence in expanding the scale of its brutal aggression against countries and peoples of the region ,adding that at around 8:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday, October 8, the Israeli occupation army carried out an attack with three missiles launched from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, against a residential and commercial building in Mezzeh, a densely populated neighborhood in Damascus, the Syrian capital. The attack caused, in a preliminary result, the martyrdom of seven civilians, including children and women, while 11 were injured, in addition to causing significant material damage to private property in the surrounding area. Syria condemns in the strong est terms this brutal crime against defenseless civilians, and considers it to be a continuation of the crimes of genocide committed by the usurping entity of Israel against the Palestinians and Lebanese, the Ministry added. The Foreign Ministry stressed the need to take immediate measures to deter Israel and force it to stop its criminal approach based on spreading death, destruction and chaos in the region, and its attempts to drag the area into a confrontation that will have disastrous consequences.
