New York, Syria condemned in the strongest terms the United States' repeated use of veto to paralyze the Security Council and prevent it from assuming its responsibilities, stressing its rejection of the pretexts it uses to defend the Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinian people in blatant disregard for the will of the peoples and countries of the world. 'The General Assembly meets today to express its stance regarding the United States' use of veto against a draft resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip, with the aim of protecting 'Israel', providing it with immunity, and enabling it to continue crimes against humanity, and genocide committed against the Palestinian people without fear of accountability or punishment,' Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak, said at a General Assembly meeting. Al-Dahhak stressed Syria's permanent support for the brotherly Palestinian people in their struggle to liberate their occupied land an d establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
