Damascus, Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed Saturday with Iraqi Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab Abdullah means of enhancing cooperation between Syria and Iraq to confront the problem of drought and climate change. Arnous affirmed the Syrian government's readiness to implement joint projects with the Iraqi side on water and using modern technologies to address the reality of scarcity of water resources due to drought and lack of rainfall during the past years. For his part, the Iraqi minister expressed his country's readiness to exchange expertise with the Syrian side and boost the bilateral cooperation in this regard to serve the common interest of the two brotherly countries. The two sides stressed the need for all parties to respect international agreements related to the construction of dams and the sharing of international river waters between upstream and downstream countries.
