Baghdad, Interior Minister. Maj. Gen. Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun said that Syria plays an effective role in combating drug trafficking and smuggling. Delivering a speech during the 2nd Baghdad International Conference on Combating Drug, Al- Rahmoun underlined the importance of cooperation between the region countries in light of smuggling drugs operations by terrorist groups deployed on the borders. Al-Rahmoun said that Syria has been and remains play an important and prominent role in supporting the efforts of international community to combat crime in general and drug trafficking crime in particular. Minister al-Rahmoun noted to the positive results of cooperation and coordination efforts with neighboring countries, especially Iraq and Jordan, after the 1st Baghdad International Conference 2023. He expressed Syria's hope that cooperation and coordination would become at the level of all countries in the region as a whole, adding that the Interior Ministry has given anti-terrorism units a great attention and provided them with infrastructure within available capabilities in light of the coercive measures imposed on Syria.
