Damascus, The Football Association extended its contract with coach of the Syrian men's national team, Argentine Hector Cuper, until the end of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup. The Union contracted with Cooper last February as he led the Syrian team at the Asian Cup in Qatar and reached the round of 16, which is the first time that Syria qualified for this round. Cuper led the Georgia national team between 2008 and 2009, and the Egyptian national team, leading it to runner-up in the African Cup in 2017, and then to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
