Manama, The Tender Board hosted a workshop for procurement bodies to introduce an initiative aimed at allocating a portion of government tenders to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The event brought together 180 participants from 45 government entities that are under the Government Tender Law. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, said that this initiative reflects the Board's commitment to supporting SMEs by dedicating 20% of government tenders to them. The initiative is designed to increase the participation of SMEs in government contracts. The workshop provided insights into the initiative, including implementation strategies and the role of procurement entities in facilitating SME involvement. The goal is to ensure SMEs benefit from a greater share of government tenders, ultimately reaching a 20% participation rate. Experts from the Tender Board also detailed the initiative's objectives and outlined the steps procurement entities need to take to support SME involvement i n the tendering process.
