The Supreme Presidential Council of Churches calls for confronting the extremist Ben Gvir’s announcement to build a synagogue in Al-Aqsa

Ramallah - Ma'an - The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine condemned the announcement by extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir of his intention to build a Jewish synagogue in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and considered this a dangerous precedent that opens the door wide to a major explosion in the region and the world, and called for confronting these plans before it is too late. The committee stressed in a press statement issued by its chairman, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ramzi Khoury, that these extremist statements come within the framework of an official policy of the extremist occupation government, which has repeatedly violated the legal, historical and religious status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as part of its efforts to implement its Judaization-colonial project in the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities. She added that these extremist statements came after a long series of raids led by Minister Ben Gv ir and a group of ministers and representatives, performing Talmudic rituals, and raising the Israeli flag in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa. The Committee called on the relevant international institutions, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the world's churches to condemn these racist statements and take urgent action to close the door to a religious war, from whose fire and dangerous repercussions no one will be spared, which the ministers of the extremist government in Israel are trying to ignite with their words and actions that affect the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Palestine.
