Prime Minister of Lebanon's Caretaker Government, Najib Mikati, spoke by phone, on Monday, with the UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, to discuss bilateral relations and developments in Lebanon and the region. In a statement, office of the Lebanese Prime Minister, reported that Lammy called on all parties to exercise restraint for de-escalation, and called for resolving the conflict peacefully and through the relevant international resolutions. Also, UK Foreign Secretary underlined that widening of conflict in the region is in nobody's interest. The phone call came as part of the steadfast international diplomatic efforts to prevent a potential escalation, following the recurrent Israeli threats against Lebanon. Israel has mounted airstrikes, and artillery shelling in towns and villages of South Lebanon, causing dozens of casualties and forcing the residents to flee these regions, amid persistent Israeli threats to expand the scale of these attacks.
