United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over Israel's recent airstrikes in and around Hodeida Port in Yemen. The Israeli entity has claimed responsibility for the strikes, justifying that the attack comes in response to previous Houthi attacks on the Israeli entity. Initial reports indicated a number of fatalities and over 80 people injured as a result of the Israeli entity's attack, and that there has been considerable damage to civilian infrastructure. In a statement issued by his spokesperson's office, Guterres called on all parties concerned to avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure. UN Secretary-General expressed his deep concern about the risk of further escalation in the region and continues to urge all to exercise utmost restraint. Yemeni news agency (Saba) reported earlier that the Israeli strikes targeted oil tanks in the port of Hodeida and the power station in the governorate, causing a fire to erupt in oil derivatives t anks. Yemeni Ministry of Health reported, shortly after, that the attack killed three persons and injured 87 others. An official source in the Yemeni government expressed condemnation in the strongest terms of the Israeli raids and the violation of the sovereignty of Yemeni lands, describing the Israeli raids as a clear violation of all international laws and norms. The source called on the international community and the security council to shoulder their responsibilities in order to protect international peace and security. Source: Qatar News Agency
