Undersecretary for Political Affairs attends ministerial meeting in Madrid on future of Palestine

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, reaffirmed Bahrain's support for international efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid to civilians, and ensure the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution as a strategic option for peace, security, and stability in the Middle East. This was stated during his participation in the ministerial coordination meeting in Madrid on Gaza, where discussions focused on implementing the two-state solution, ending the conflict, and preparing for a high-level event on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly. The meeting included members of the Arab-Islamic Joint Ministerial Committee on Gaza, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, several European foreign ministers, and Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for For eign Affairs and Security Policy. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah highlighted Bahrain's firm stance, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government under His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in supporting the Palestinian cause and the peace process, advocating dialogue and negotiation to end the Gaza conflict, reduce military escalation, and provide humanitarian assistance through the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) and the Bahrain National Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People in Gaza. He called on the international community to take responsibility for de-escalation, ceasefire, civilian protection, and facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also urged support for HM the King's initiative, endorsed by the 33rd Arab Summit, to host an international peace conference for the Middle East, which would back the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and its full membership in the UN, contributing to peaceful coexistence in a secure and prosperous region.
