US Announces Nearly $172 Million in Additional Humanitarian Assistance for Sudan and Neighboring Countries

The United States announced nearly $172 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Sudan and neighboring countries experiencing the impacts of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

"With this funding, the United States has provided more than $550 million in humanitarian assistance this fiscal year for Sudan and neighboring countries to respond to the needs of refugees, internally displaced persons, and people affected by conflict in the region," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.

Participants in the High-level Pledging Event to Support the Humanitarian Response in Sudan and the Region, which was co-chaired by the State of Qatar and a number of countries and international organizations, pledged on Monday nearly $1.5 billion to provide initial humanitarian assistance based on the needs of the Sudanese people and the neighboring countries hosting people fleeing the fighting.
